Yesterday the trailer for Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up spin-off movie, This Is 40, dropped. It’s attached to The 5-Year Engagement which absolutely bombed at the box office this weekend, but we’ll discuss that at a later date.
The trailer is attached (below). I really love the trailer, I do. I know, I know, it doesn’t show much and really doesn’t seem to differ from other Apatow stuff – at least at first glance – but this is how it is with him. The trailers are usually really weak (I absolutely despised the Bridesmaids trailer) or only show the jokes instead of the strong narrative his comedies usually harbor. I think the film will be much “deeper” than this trailer implies. Now, with that said, I think the jokes within the trailer are all on point. I laughed earnestly at the nipples part, and the final scene with Rudd. All good stuff.
Can Leslie Mann finally become a big star, or how much longer will I have to wait?
This is one of my most anticipated movies of the year and I can’t wait.
